An Annual Holiday Tradition Has Been Canceled In Cedar Rapids
The holiday season will be a little less festive this year in Cedar Rapids.
A surprising announcement from the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance is being reported by KCRG. After 34 years, the annual Holiday DeLight Parade in downtown Cedar Rapids is canceled. No reason for the decision was given, other than declining attendance for the event in recent years.
The organization also states the increasing variety, attendance, and participation for other holiday events were hindering the parade's participation.
This announcement is both surprising and disappointing for fans and patrons who support the Holiday DeLight Parade in early December every year. It's always a great way to kick off the festive season, but it looks like, for this year anyway, we'll be looking for a different activity to fill that void.
Hopefully, the community will take this news to heart and make a point to support these other events put on by the city and the Metro Economic Alliance because to paraphrase a famous Christmas carol, we all need a little Christmas, maybe this year more than ever.
