If you are a lover of coffee and local craft beer, we have a suggestion for you! SingleSpeed Brewing Company, with tap rooms in both Waterloo and Cedar Falls, just came in first place for the 2019 Des Moines Register Beer Brackets!

According to the Des Moines Register, 64 local beers from 46 different Iowa breweries were put into the bracket, with voting done by beer-lovers all across Iowa. The two finalists in the bracket were Tip The Cow from SingleSpeed Brewing Company and Peanut Butter Porter from Lake Time Brewery in Clear Lake. Tip the Cow ended up winning with 52% of the vote.

So what exactly does Tip the Cow taste like? The SingleSpeed website states:

"Have you ever reveled in the essence of a chocolate-covered espresso bean? How about in the form of a beer?  This full-bodied, creamy, milk stout has been touched by the gentle hand of Sidecar Coffee Roasters, resulting in a rich, but smooth option, boasting notes of roast and cocoa alongside velvety sweetness."

There were a few other Eastern Iowa breweries represented in the bracket, like Lion Bridge, Big Grove, Kalona Brewing Company, Backpocket, The Quarter Barrel, and Millstream. You can check out the full bracket HERE.

Previous winners include West O Beer in Milford, Confluence Brewing Company in Des Moines, and Fenders Brewing in Polk City.
