[Original Story Monday, October 10] An eastern Iowa woman was found dead at her business over the weekend. Her husband has been arrested but hasn't been charged with her death.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to a business along Highway 52 in Bellevue, Iowa a few minutes before 8 a.m. Saturday morning.
When authorities responded to Mississippi Ridge Kennels outside Bellevue, they found a woman dead of an apparent gunshot wound.
The victim has been identified as 55-year-old Angela Prichard. The Telegraph Herald says she was the owner of Mississippi Ridge Kennels.
Angela Prichard's 56-year-old husband, Christopher Prichard, was arrested early Sunday morning, October 9. Special Agent Richard Rahn of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation says Prichard was charged with Violation of a No Contact Order/Protective Order.
According to the Telegraph Herald, Christopher Prichard was charged with domestic assault in April of 2022. Angela Prichard called her son who contacted the police. She told law enforcement that Christopher Prichard had slapped her and thrown a mug at her during a fight about their marriage on April 18.
The Iowa District Court of Jackson County was scheduled to hold a trial on the domestic assault charge against Christopher Prichard on November 29. Last month, Angela Prichard filed for the No Contact/Protective Order. It had been approved just prior to her death.
The Office of the Iowa State Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy on Angela Prichard on Sunday. Agent Rahn said, "We hope to gain more information from that. Sometimes those take a while. We often have to wait for things such as toxicology reports."
The investigation is ongoing.
