Are There Any Iowans In The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame?

This weekend the 36th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is being held at Cleveland's Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse.

I've been to the Hall of Fame a few times. If you're into music at all it's a really magical place.

For an act to be eligible for induction, they must have released their first single or album at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination.

This weekend's inductees include Tina Turner, Carole King, The Go-Go's, Jay-Z, Foo Fighters, and Todd Rundgren.

You'll be able to watch the red carpet, presenters, and performances as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame live stream on their YouTube channel, or it's being taped by HBO for a future broadcast.

There are so many greats already inducted, but I spent a good part of the afternoon going through the artists already inducted to see if I could find anyone from Iowa.

The best I could do in regards to proximity would have to be the band Cheap Trick.

Tom Petersson, the bass guitarist for the group hails from Rockford, Illinois.

Jon Brant also played bass guitar for the band from 1982 to 1987 and came from Chicago.

Rick Nielsen, the lead guitarist, singer, and songwriter for the group is from Elmhurst, Illinois.

Robin Zander, the rhythm guitarist, singer, and songwriter for the band is from Beloit, Wisconsin.

Cheap Trick was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame back in 2016.

As of May of 2021, there are 351 inductees in the Hall of Fame. It's always exciting to see which incredible performer will be welcomed next.
