Last year, we stopped in at NewBo City Market to check the pig pulse of Eastern Iowans. Tiffany O'Donnell had the right idea when it came to pig-calling. Hard to top that, but we'll do our best on Saturday at the Thomas Dostal Developers Baconfest. Make sure you are entered into this year's Pig Calling Contest. Do some vocal scales before you attempt the bellowing. Just a tip from a broadcast professional.

Check out the :48 mark of this Illinois State Fair Pig Caller.

He uses his own nose to make the snouty sound. Well done in Springfield!

We'll also roll out our annual Bacon Eating Contest. Get your GI tract ready and let's do this! Bacon is the kind of food that you can enjoy in mass doses. In fact, I've found that bacon is soooo good that no matter how high the piggy pile, you always crave more. Kinda like the Lay's Potato Chips commercial. Bet you can't eat one.

While we don't expect you to down a 9000 calorie skyscraper like this one, we DO expect you to bring your A-game to NewBo on Saturday.

Alls well that ends well...or at least ends in a nap.

The Cedar Rapids Baconfest is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Iowa game starts at 2:30, so Hawk fans will have plenty of time to get home or to your tailgate party after our Pig Gig
