Blake Shelton says he's softened up a lot since he started dating Gwen Stefani in 2015, kidding that he "was a jerk" to the people around him before that. At least, we think he's kidding.

The country superstar and coach on The Voice met Stefani when she joined the show in 2015, and they began dating later that year after both of their divorces. Stefani joins Shelton on a new song, "Nobody But You," that talks about how a loving relationship can change someone's life, and Shelton readily admits that Stefani has had a profound impact on him.

"I don't want to remember what I was like before Gwen, actually," Shelton tells Entertainment Tonight in a new interview.

"I'm a little bit of [a] jerk to you still," he kids competing Voice coach Kelly Clarkson, adding, "But I was a jerk to everybody... Look how nice I am now!"

Stefani is back on The Voice in 2020, replacing departing judge Adam Levine, and she says Shelton's effect on her has been just as acute.

"Blake saved my life, everybody knows that," she shares. "Like, we're just having the time of our lives, and we never expected that this late in our lives, so we're just trying to savor every moment together."

The easy chemistry the couple share is also apparent to their fellow Voice coaches.

"I love the energy with them being on the show together," John Legend observes. "It kind of softens Blake a little bit."

"Nobody But You" will appear on Shelton's upcoming album, Fully Loaded: God's Country, which is set for release on Dec. 13.
