The disappearance of a man that captured the attention of people across the Midwest has come to a very sad conclusion. 28-year-old Dan Gessner of Dubuque, Iowa went missing on October 21, 2019. His body was found more than 20 miles away on Saturday, May 17, 2020, nearly seven months later.

According to KWWL, Gessner was last seen early Monday morning, October 21, 2019, when he left an East Dubuque, Illinois bar called the Other Side. KCRG reported that private surveillance showed Gessner walking along a street a short time later, at approximately 3:15 am. Missing Illinois says a taxi came to pick Gessner up, but when it arrived the driver was unable to locate him.

When Gessner didn't show up for work Monday, and again Tuesday, his boss called his family who contacted police. At the time, Gessner's father told KWWL that his son had a spinal medical device that required charging. He said that if not charged within just a few days, his son would be debilitated.

After almost seven months of searching, Dan Gessner's body was found Saturday along the banks of the Mississippi River in Bellevue, Iowa, according to Missing Illinois. Bellevue is approximately 24 miles from Dubuque, where Gessner disappeared in October. Our condolences to his friends and family.
