The brother of a decorated military veteran is calling for an investigation of the Muscatine County Sheriff. Cyle Geertz of Nichols, Iowa spoke out in front of the Muscatine County Board of Supervisors on Monday night.

Geertz spoke about the procession of vehicles that escorted the body of his brother, who died in a motorcycle accident, from Kansas City back to Muscatine County. Geertz was upset at the lack of law enforcement once the procession reached the county. "Not a single police officer, sheriff's deputy, sheriff, was there. None. NONE." Geertz is alleging that Muscatine County Sheriff C.J. Ryan told deputies that if they participated in the procession, their jobs would be in jeopardy.

County supervisors say that Sheriff Ryan told them that only two deputies were on duty at the time of the procession. Ryan also told the board that they looked for volunteers but none could be found. Geertz scoffed at the statement saying that he couldn't believe that the county only had two deputies on duty to protect the county over the weekend.

The board says it doesn't have the authority to fire Sheriff Ryan. Geertz says that the people of the county deserve an investigation into why the sheriff discriminates against people who ride motorcycles.
