Original story:

If you are an Iowan, you know the big game this past weekend was the Hawkeyes versus the Cyclones in Ames, IA. You also probably remember that ESPN'S "College GameDay" was also at the big game! But, did you happen to see the sign "I Need Beer Money" on TV that raised over $5,000 which is now being donated to charity?

According to the Des Moines Register, 24-year-old from Altoona, Carson King showed up at the "College GameDay" event at Jack Trice Stadium at 5:30 am only to find the main pit already full. So, Carson ended up at the secondary stage but it was his sign that caught everyone's attention.... even the cameramen. A lot of people make signs hoping to get noticed but not many put their Venmo info on the sign and ask for beer money.

Carson had made a sign that said "Busch Light Supply Needs Replenished" and then put his Venmo information following it. Within MINUTES, he ended up raising more money than expected. By the time he got to $600, he decided to keep it going and donate all the proceeds to the University of Iowa Children's Hospital. As of Monday, Carson had raised over $5,000.

Carson told the register, "It just goes to show that no matter if you’re a Hawkeye fan, Cyclone fan, or Grand View Viking, we’re all Iowans, and Iowans take care of each other." If you want to help out with this makeshift fundraiser happening for the rest of the month, you can Venmo him at Carson-King-25.

Oh, and don't worry he did get his Busch Light too!
