It's a bizarre but true story.

The Gazette reports an Iowa priest who threatened a woman sexually in 2013 is still employed by the Catholic Church.

The Diocese of Sioux City said the priest has since recovered from that "mental health episode" and defended it's decision to continue his employment.

Cops say the priest, Jeremy Wind, told them he was trying to rape a woman when they arrested him naked in an Iowa shopping mall in 2013.

According to the Gazette, the priest reportedly took off his pants and chased the woman until she locked herself in her car and drove away. The cops arrived, the priest punched a police officer and was then arrested. Later, the priest pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct.

Mental illness is a very real concern, and we're glad to hear the padre is doing well. We also appreciate the spirit of forgiveness that is evident in this story. Our hope is that the priest in question remains on a "short leash" and there is oversight to insure no one else, including the priest himself, is threatened in the future by any potential harmful actions.
