Cedar Rapids Airbnb is Authentic 1916 Firehouse [PHOTOS]
If these walls could talk, indeed.
A sacred piece of property is now for rent that once housed the firefighters of Hose Company #4 in Cedar Rapids. Wouldn't it be an honor to stay under the same roof that some of our bravest heroes once called their headquarters? For $142 a night, you can rent the beautiful space at "Sue's Place" through Airbnb that also happens to be an authentic 1916 firehouse.
It's located in what is now known as the NewBo district, above the stunning retail space that once housed the firetruck and close to Almost Famous Popcorn. Handy if you run out of snacks while watching a movie, right?
The Airbnb listing states that it was a second-floor apartment for a rotating crew of 4 firefighters. 4 bedrooms, 2 beds, and 1 bath comprise this space.
Through floods and a derecho in recent years, the sturdy brick building remains in near original condition. Notwithstanding the minor noise of the bustling retail and entertainment culture that is now a prevalent part of the NewBo district, there is a white noise machine in the sleeping area and even complimentary earplugs.
It has air conditioning and a Smart TV, as well as a memory foam mattress for the king bed. Above the king bed is an amazing mural showcasing the men who called it their quarters.
In fact, there are more amenities than you could imagine for you and up to three of your friends inside the doors of what is a mostly intact property dating back to again, the 1900s.
