Healthcare workers, especially those working inside Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, received a pair of beautiful tributes over the weekend.

Cedar Rapids artists Kathy Kyle and Mary Campbell created a couple of masterpieces on top of the parkade in front of the hospital, along 10th St. S.E. They used sidewalk chalk to produce the tributes to healthcare workers on the frontlines in the COVID-19 pandemic. The murals face the hospital itself.

Mary Campbell's mural (below) is a take-off on the famous World War II campaign 'Rosie the Riveter.' She completed it on Saturday.

Kathy Kyle's mural is about twice the size of Campbell's, covering two parking spots in the ramp. It took her a  weekend to complete and it's also a thing of beauty. You can see photos of all the artwork, including some in-progress photos below.

According to KCRG, both Kyle and Campbell are previous winners at Mt. Vernon's Chalk the Walk. Visitmvl.com reports the 14th annual event in Mt. Vernon last May had more than 500 artists take part, using over 3/4 ton of chalk. This year's event is a virtual one, with entries being accepted through the end of the month. Details are available HERE.

Thank you, Kathy & Mary, for your amazing abilities and creatively and thank you to all of Iowa's healthcare heroes!
