A deceased male found on Cedar Rapids' southwest side has been identified by the Cedar Rapids Police Department.

According to a media release from the Cedar Rapids Police Department, construction workers found a body at a construction site near 64th Avenue and Edgewood Road SW just before 8:45 a.m. Monday morning.

Police have now identified the man as 20-year-old Asukulu Mmengwa of Cedar Rapids.

A preliminary investigation by police has determined Mmengwa's death appears to be unattended. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of his death and an autopsy will be conducted in Ankeny in the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner. The Cedar Rapids Police Department doesn't believe there's a risk to the public.
