Vivian's Soul Food is back in a newly expanded location!

The popular Cedar Rapids restaurant closed its doors on 16th Ave. S.W. on January 4 after about two-and-a-half years (they opened in July of 2017). Briana Smallwood, who owns the restaurant with her husband Jerome, tells me the original location had only 44 seats. The new restaurant's capacity is nearly triple that, with seating for 126. The new location at 2925 Williams Parkway SW, which opened January 21, also has a full bar.

And that's just the beginning. The full menu is below. And if you're looking for a recommendation on your first visit, Briana says,

My favorite thing from the traditional menu is our meatloaf (a lot of people pass it up because it’s something anyone can make, but ours is SO good); and from our expanded menu my favorite item is our jerk chicken egg rolls which is served with a creamy house sauce that is amazing.

Vivian's Soul Food is open Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. They're closed on Mondays.
