Here is a family-friendly beverage festival just in time to quench your thirst and beat the summer heat.

The Cedar Rapids History Center presents its second annual "Root Beer Festival"! According to its Facebook page, this is fun for ALL ages this weekend, from noon-4 p.m. on Saturday, June 25.  A brief description of the event states:

Enjoy live outdoor entertainment by Soul Sherpa, family friendly lawn games and view our newest exhibit Running Toward Danger.

Activities and features include:

• Root beer floats for $1!
• Future Firefighters obstacle course
• Bounce house
• Museum admission
• Onsite food vendor: Up In Smoke BBQ

The first 500 guests will receive a FREE signature Root Beer Festival cup and root beer drink.

You'll get all that for the mere admission price of $5. If you've got a Freedom Festival button, bring it to show at the door for $1 off. To get that discount you must purchase your Root Beer Festival tickets at the gate. The History Center, where the event takes place, is located at 800 Second Ave. SE.
