The record-breaking cold in Eastern Iowa won't let up. The city of Cedar Rapids saw a record that has stood since 1979 fall this morning. The temperature reached -20, besting the old record of -19.

The extreme cold has caused the Cedar Rapids school district to call off classes today. Students will now resume class on Wednesday, January 3rd. When will we see some relief?

Temperatures are actually supposed to be ABOVE zero by this afternoon with highs near 8. We could actually see double-digit highs by the weekend. Until then, wind chills will remain dangerous, in the 30 to 40 below range through noon today!
