Cedar Rapids Using Flood Experience to Help Other Cities
The Hesco Barriers that saved Cedar Rapids from extensive devastation last fall are being sent to another state to potentially save them.
KCRG reports that Boise, Idaho is currently under a flood warning, and that Alliant Energy has been working to load up and ship the mesh and wire bins, designed to be filled with sand and hold back water, to the Boise area for protection.
As we saw last fall, Cedar Rapids knows how to roll up its sleeves and help others in a time of need. I'm glad our city can now use its experience and resources to benefit others. It's been a rainy several days around here, but we don't look in much danger of serious flooding. Let's just hope it stays that way and we don't need them back before Boise's out of the woods.
Best wishes to them in their endeavors to protect their town.
