Ice Cream is Life!

So says the owner of a brand new, unique food truck specializing in sweet treats and coffee drinks. This ain't your mom and dad's ice cream truck. That's for sure!

Cassidy Cook and her husband Kane started their dream on August 6 by opening Bitter Sweet Coffee & Ice Cream Camper, a unique mobile dessert and beverage truck like you've probably never seen before. It's run out of a CAMPER!

They can be booked for private events, but can also be seen around the area will post their updated schedule on Facebook. Bitter Sweet Coffee & Ice Cream Camper is about to be out and about in a big way!

As a reward for the kids (and you) coming into their first week of school, why not celebrate with a stop for a sweet treat at one of these locations around town?

Cassidy says she spent her 2020 creating her business plan and used 2021 to do the leg work to get it going.

The official description from their Facebook page says:

Based in Cedar Rapids, IA, Bitter Sweet Coffee & Ice Cream is a travel and event-friendly camper featuring hand-crafted espresso and ice cream creations, using locally sourced, high-quality ingredients. Find us around town or book us for your next event!

"Bitter Sweet Coffee and Ice Cream Camper" opened for business on August 6.

What's even better about this company, is that it's local supporting local. The ice cream served at Bitter Sweet Coffee and Ice Cream Camper comes from Dan and Debbie's Creamery, located in Ely.

It's not just ice cream, although that's a huge attraction. They serve a signature line of caffeine and non-caffeinated latte drinks including handcrafted lattes, ice cream floats, "flavored fizzers" and kid-friendly drinks like steamers, hot cocoa, flavored milk, and more.

Their specials this month, according to the Cedar Rapids Gazette, are the Summertime S’mores latte and the Summertime S’mores dipped waffle cone.

And, oh, hey, the holidays are going to be here before you know it and they've got that covered too with some "sweet swag" including a latte love candle, coffee and cream candle, and even a glass coffee cup.

This will definitely not be like the ice cream trucks we saw rolling around our neighborhoods growing up, it's going to be super cool!

So I wondered, as I know you might be...what's the significance of the name? As Cassidy and Kane were brainstorming they came up with "Bitter Sweet" to encompass coffee and cream, respectively.
