The Cedar Rapids city council meet late Monday night and feelings of cautious optimism could be felt around the room. Temporary barriers constructed to hold back flood waters were doing their job.

The crest of the Cedar through Cedar Rapids is now being projected at 22 feet, so we're almost there. Public Work's director Jen Winter said that water is hitting some of the barriers in Newbo, Czech Village, and Kingston neighborhoods. It Time Check and Czech Village water was coming up through some of the storm sewers.

Officials say they are still concerned with the number of people still present in the flood zone. A curfew remains in effect from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. The city will once again hold a press conference at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena at 10 a.m. to update the public on flood progress.
