Chicago Nominated for 2016 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is finally getting it right.
Two years after Hall and Oates accepted their long-awaited induction, this year could bring the same honor to the band we saw at the McGrath Amphitheatre in May and who I lobbied for this recognition in a previous blog -- Chicago! I'm sure it's just a coincidence that I'm 2-for-2 in endorsing bands for Hall of Fame induction in my blog, but it does have me considering doing the same for Bon Jovi, Journey and Def Leppard. (I guess I just did!)
It could actually be an exciting two years ahead in general for Chicago and their fans, as 2017 marks their 50th anniversary together as a band. Which brings us to the other potentially intriguing elephant in the room. Could former singers Peter Cetera and Bill Champlin return to the fold, at least temporarily to help mark these occasions? Fans would be ecstatic.
While it doesn't guarantee selection as a finalist in the Hall of Fame class, the fan vote goes a long way toward making it happen. Other nominees include The Cars, Cheap Trick, Steve Miller, and an artist coming to the iWireless Center in Moline next June--Janet Jackson. The official inductees will be named in December for the ceremony next year.
