Contestant With Iowa Ties Looks To Stop Famous Jeopardy Streak
We've all been following the big run on Jeopardy of James Holzhauer, who has been breaking records left and right.
Spoiler alert: his streak is reportedly set to end on Monday, and he will be ousted by a woman with Iowa ties. Video was leaked to the New York Times, showing Emma Boettcher as the contestant who will end it all for Holzhauer after 33 days and over $2 million in winnings.
Boettcher's father, Kevin, graduated from Storm Lake High School. The Storm Lake Times named her, not surprisingly, the smartest grandchild of Storm Lake resident Lloyd Boettcher. Her master's thesis was about 'Jeopardy' and she is a "user experience resident librarian" at University of Chicago. A smart girl with some Iowa blood is about to beat the long-standing champion whose streak was just shy of all-time winner Ken Jennings. Holzhauer came up $56,484 of outdoing Jennings.
So, although she herself was not born in Iowa, we're claiming her. It may take a lot to outdo Holzhauer's record overall, but she's on her way.
'Jeopardy' airs daily on KWWL Channel 7 at 4 p.m.
