The Iowa men's basketball program will be losing a familiar face next year when play resumes.

According to the Cedar Rapids Gazette, "Cordell Pemsl announced Friday he has submitted his name in the NCAA transfer portal and will depart the Hawkeyes basketball program."

He thanked the team, coaches and the fans in a University news release. He did not give a reason for leaving the program and there was no mention of what school he plans to attend next year.

Pemsl averaged 2.8 points this year with 3.2 rebounds per game. It was an up and down season for the 6-foot-9 forward from Dubuque.

Let's wish Cordell the best of luck with his new team.
