Courtlin Stayed in a Creepy Motel and Didn’t Get Killed [VIDEO]

This weekend I traveled to Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin for a friend's wedding, and I have to say, it is STUNNING up there. Northern Iowa is absolutely gorgeous. What wasn't so gorgeous was the motel room I stayed in on Saturday night.

So, I thought that I would wait until I got my official wedding invitation before I booked my hotel, which was my first mistake, because by that time, every single hotel in the area was booked up. I'm not kidding. That left me with two options: sleep in my car, or drive two hours back to Cedar Rapids after the reception. Luckily, I didn't have to do either, because I was informed of a teeny tiny motel that still had rooms available. Yay! After trying to book online and finding very little information, I realized that this place was so tiny that that wasn't even an option, so another coworker and I booked our rooms over the phone. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but it was only $65, so I wasn't about to be picky. When we arrived, we had to walk to the bar across the street to get our keys and fill out a card with our information. And when I say key, I mean KEY. The rooms had actual keys, which is not something you typically see in 2016. The room was very old-fashioned, decked out with plastic lamps, wood paneling, a tiny box T.V., and the oldest bathroom exhaust fan I've ever seen. Plus it was right by a large wooded-area. It was a place I'd only ever seen in horror movies. I was staying in the room alone, so I immediately pictured myself being murdered and thrown in the bathtub. After my dramatic take on the situation, I ended up ok, so I really can't complain. The place was very neat and tidy, and there was a chain lock on the door, so I felt safe. I've actually had much worse experiences in fancy, more expensive hotels. Overall, it was a funny experience, and I learned my lesson about waiting too long to book a hotel room.
