YUM.

Every year during our Radiothon in Iowa City, I try to stop by at least one restaurant that I've never been to before. It's not often that I'm down in that area, so I have a pretty extensive list of places I want to go. It wasn't tough to pick a place this time around, though!

A couple of weeks ago while I was doing a live broadcast, a listener told me that I needed to eat at Brick & Iron in Coralville. I remember writing an article about the restaurant back in January shortly after they opened, but there have been so many restaurant openings since then that I totally forgot about it! I happened to look at their Instagram page last week, and I knew immediately that I would be eating there for dinner on Thursday night. Why? I'll show you:

That work of art above is a deep-fried grilled cheese smothered in cheese sauce. As you can see, we ordered it on Thursday night. I'm not lying when I tell you it was even BETTER than I thought it was going to be, and I thought it was going to be pretty amazing. Unfortunately, it's not on Brick & Iron's regular menu, it was a special in honor of the Iowa State Fair, but I hope that they'll bring it back someday!

In addition to the deep-fried grilled cheese, my friends and I also shared some delicious cheese bread and brisket nachos. Everything we had was SO good.

Brick & Iron is located over near the Iowa River Landing in the same building as the Latitude apartments and condos. Parking is scarce, but the food makes it worth it! You can read more about the new Coralville restaurant by visiting their website HERE. Check out a few photos of the restaurant below:
