We're getting very close (too close, actually) to the end of the year, which means my goal of eating at a new restaurant every month of 2017 is almost complete! There are a lot of places from my original list that I was able to make it to this year, and there have been a lot of additions, as well. I've been taking recommendations from friends, coworkers, and listeners, and I've eaten at some of the best restaurants Eastern Iowa has to offer. That being said, there are still so many places I would like to try, so I'm trying to squeeze in as many as I can before the end of the year. That's why I decided to check another place off my list on Friday afternoon: Starlite Room in Cedar Rapids.

Starlite Room is one of those places that I've driven by about a billion times, but I just never made it in. It's been recommended to me by a ton of people, including Brain, so I had some pretty high expectations going in. The restaurant definitely has a divey feel to it, which is something that I wasn't really expecting, but still enjoyed. It was packed when we arrived for lunch on Friday afternoon, which is always a good sign.

Let's get to the important stuff: the FOOD. We always start with appetizers and they had a LOT of choices, almost all of which were deep fried (my favorite). We settled on the mini tacos and the jalapeno & cream cheese poppers, which were super delicious:

As far as the main course goes, the sign says "Home of the Super Burger," so I obviously had to order one. I got the half-pound super cheese burger with fries and it was more than enough food. I must say, they really do have some awesome burgers. Also, fry quality is something that's very important to me in a restaurant and they did not disappoint. Even the ranch was really good!

Overall, the food was great, the service was great, and I left uncomfortably full, so I'd say my first visit to Starlite Room was a success! I will definitely be back!

I plan to hit up Zoey's Pizza in Marion in the month of December, but is there are any other restaurants you think I should squeeze in before the end of the year, feel free to leave a suggestion in the comments!
