Des Moines’ Finest Tequila Bar Is Coming to Eastern Iowa
It's billed as an upscale, high-end tequila bar based in the East Village of Des Moines, and now it's making its way to Iowa City
According to the Iowa City Press-Citizen, Coa Cantina is located in the former Clinton Street Social Club, located at 18½ S. Clinton St. According to the Press-Citizen, "the bar serves nachos, carnitas tacos, burritos, Mexican-style street corn, and margaritas, from one made with house-made peach puree and Blanco tequila to Tierra Roja, a strawberry- and saffron-infused tequila with lemon, sherry, cinnamon, and peppercorn."
Co-owner James Thyberg says they won't be "reinventing the wheel" at the new location. In fact, the Clinton street spot was the perfect venue for the new bar, because the layout is already very similar to that of Des Moines' Coa Cantina, and minimal remodeling will be required.
Their bread and butter (and salt and lime) will be the basic margarita with several unique twists.
margaritas obviously are very, very common and well-known. But what we do is we make them very well and we use high-end products and quality tequila, quality ingredients in all of our drinks and everything is handmade to order.
It won't just be margaritas though. Expect a variety of drinks at Coa Cantina.
