The Des Moines International Airport was one of at least a dozen airports that were targeted by pro-Russian hackers on Monday, according to the Des Moines Register.

In addition to Des Moines, outages also affected the websites of airports in Chicago and Atlanta. The Register reports that a spokesperson for the Des Moines International Airport confirmed that their website, FLYDSM.com, was down on Monday morning. A Federal Aviation Administration flight tracking website was also down. The Register reports that the outage did not affect operations at the airport. The website has since come back online.

CNN reports that the pro-Russian hacking group Killnet targeted at least 14 airport websites on Monday. According to the Register, the attacks were what is called a denial of service, where attackers flood the site with fake traffic to overwhelm servers and knock them offline. CNN reports that Killnet also took responsibility last week for taking down several U.S. state government websites.

The Register reports that officials with the Des Moines International Airport suggest that if they have any questions regarding an upcoming flight, they contact the airline directly. Phone numbers for airlines that fly out of Des Moines are as follows

  • American Airlines: 1-800-433-7300.
  • Delta Air Lines: 1-800-221-1212.
  • Southwest Airlines: 1-800-435-9792.
  • United Airlines: 1-800-864-8331.
