Thirty-five years ago next month, America and the entire world fell in love with a fierce dancing tandem that truly made us believe they were in love as we watched them on the big screen. In August, the magic of the film returns to movie theaters for a limited engagement.

August 21, 1987 was the date "Dirty Dancing" arrived in theaters. We didn't just fall in love with the movie, we fell in love with the film's stars, Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey. You could definitely put me in the category of people who fell for Jennifer.

Below is the original trailer that enticed us to rush to theaters for the film that cost $6 million to make and pulled in $213 million at the box office alone. Another thing to remember... the average movie ticket was just $3.91 in 1987.

We would later find out that Jennifer wasn't a big fan of Patrick before filming "Dirty Dancing." The two had worked together on "Red Dawn" three years earlier and Jennifer "disliked him so much" she didn't want to work with him again. Thankfully, he talked her into playing "Baby" opposite his character, "Johnny."

"Dirty Dancing" will be back in theaters across the country for two days in celebration of its 35th Anniversary. You can see it on Sunday, August 14 and Wednesday, August 17. The great thing about this particular event is that it's not a very limited release. You'll be able to see it in Cedar Rapids, Cedar Falls, Waterloo, Iowa City, Davenport, Dubuque, and other cities. There's 11 Iowa locations in all. It also will be shown at 18 theaters in Wisconsin, and five in Nebraska. You can find your theater and buy tickets HERE.

A "Dirty Dancing" sequel, which will star Jennifer Grey, is scheduled to be released around Valentines Day of 2024.
