Whether you watch it or not, you have no doubt heard about season eight of HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones.' I am one of the many, many people who tuned in to the first episode of the final season last evening, and I was definitely not disappointed.

Fans of the show have been waiting about a year and a half since season seven, with the final episode airing on August 27th of 2017. For me, that is just WAY too long. This season is a big deal for that reason, but also because it is the last season ever and there are only 6 total episodes. That doesn't feel like enough episodes, but any 'Game of Thrones' fan knows that a LOT can happen in that short period of time. My current theory is that everyone is going to die except Cersei Lannister, but honestly, nothing would surprise me at this point. I was asked to participate in a fantasy pool to guess which characters live or die, but I have absolutely no faith in my predictions. I have been burned too many times.

A lot of companies are capitalizing on the hype around the final season of the show. For example, there is now a special 'Game of Thrones' package of Oreos, Mountain Dew released a limited edition can, Buffalo Wild Wings launched "Dragon Fire" sauce for one day only, and there's even a new wine collection.

All this added attention kind of makes it seem like literally EVERYONE is a fan of the show, but that is obviously not true. Based on my social media feed, there are a lot of people who haven't even watched one single episode. That's why I'm asking that you participate in my little poll. I'm interested to see how many people here in Eastern Iowa are actually tuning in, and who has absolutely no interest. Please cast your vote below:
