Drake's acceptance speech at the 2019 Grammy Awards was cut off sooner than expected.

The Canadian rapper took the stage Sunday night (Feb. 10) to celebrate bringing home the Grammy for Best Rap Song at this year's event for his hit song "God's Plan."

"I want to let y'all know that we're playing in an opinion-based sport, not a factually-based sport," the 32-year-old told the crowd. Drake went on to acknowledge the efforts and grind of his competitors Cardi B and Travis Scott, adding, "This is a business where sometimes it's up to a bunch of people who might not understand what a mixed raced kid from Canada has to say, or a fly Spanish girl from New York, or a fly brother from Houston."

"If you have people who are singing your songs word for word, if you're a hero in your hometown, if there's people who have regular jobs who are coming out in the rain and the snow, spending hard earned money to buy tickets to come to your shows, you don't need this right here," he continued. "You already won."

It was at that moment that Drake realized he'd suddenly been muted, as the emcee clearly looked confused by what just happened. Some watchers speculated the blip was done on purpose as the mic coincidentally cut out quickly after the musician began debunking the Grammy's value to an artist's worth.

Shade? Who knows.
