A driver attempting to elude a traffic stop by officers from the Cedar Rapids Police Department ended with life-threatening injuries after crashing Wednesday evening.

It all started just before midnight on Wednesday night. The Cedar Rapids Police Department says the unnamed driver didn't stop and ended up hitting a parked car and eventually came to rest on its top against a home in the 1000 block of 1st Ave. SW. You can clearly see the vehicle is upside down in the photo above. The driver was transported to the emergency room of a local hospital and was reportedly in critical condition early this morning.

Photos (below) from our news partner, CBS 2, also show the parked car that was hit as well as a fence that was knocked down, and what appears to be a tree that was sheared off.

The Cedar Rapids Police Department isn't releasing further information at this time and continue to investigate the incident.
