On Friday, August 19th, the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship suspended B & B Farm Store’s grain dealer license. This means that B & B Store Inc “shall not operate as a warehouse operator or grain dealer within Iowa until further order of the Department and must surrender any warehouse and grain dealer certificates to the Department.”

B & B Farm Store is a “hometown” country store that offers a variety of products from lawn and garden equipment, to apparel, grills, and cookers, to animal feed.

The grain licenses were suspended in accordance with Iowa Code Chapter 203 and 203C which has to do with grain dealers.

According to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, B & B Farm Store failed to pay for their priced grain, and grain storage and had record-keeping violations.

A hearing has been requested by the Department of their actions. This should be held in the immediate future.

Only the grain licenses were suspended until further notice. This means they cannot operate as a grain dealer or warehouse but does not impact other products sold by the store.

This issue falls under the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship’s Grain Warehouse Bureau which regulates and examines grain dealers and warehouse operators all over the state of Iowa.
