Eastern Iowa Multi-Day Music Festival Canceled for 2019
There will not be a Burlington Steamboat Days in 2019. That's BIG news, considering the event earlier this year was the 56th installment of the annual multi-day concert event on the Mississippi riverfront.
In a Tuesday morning press release, Burlington Steamboat Board President Amy Burkhart said the board has voted to combine with American Music Festival (AMF). They'll be re-organized as Burlington Riverfront Entertainment, according to The Hawkeye.
AMF signed an agreement early this year with the city of Burlington that has it running the train depot, the Port of Burlington, and the city's Memorial Auditorium. Previously, AMF had been the non-profit for Burlington Steamboat Days.
According to Burkhart,
The live entertainment business is undergoing a lot of big changes, and venues - regardless of size - are having to adapt. The traditional Steamboat Days music festival model that people are used to is becoming less and less viable.
Here are the Burlington Steamboat Days headliners for the last three years:
Charlie Daniels Band
Five Finger Death Punch
There will be no Burlington Steamboat Days in 2019, but will there in 2020? It certainly doesn't appear so and if there isn't, that would be a real shame. This has been a terrific event for live music fans, and more importantly, the city of Burlington.
