Most people you meet in this world are normal. But some, are more than that. Some are super heroes. They go through and conquer so much more than the average human being even knows is possible. Two of these such people are Greg and Lisa Cantwell.

I met Greg and Lisa years ago thanks to my former morning show partner Scott Steele. Greg is a cancer survivor. And not just any cancer. Glioblastoma Multiforme is a deadly form of brain cancer with a survival rate of, well, let's just say not good. But Greg beat it. He even set up a foundation to help others across the nation deal with cancers similar to his. Scott Steele was a board member with his foundation. I've talked with Greg numerous times about the continuing fight against brain cancer. But right now he's fighting for his wife, Lisa.

Lisa is a native of Wyoming, Iowa. Not far from my neck of the woods. She was born with Cystic Fibrosis. CF is a disorder that clogs the lungs and stomach with mucus, making it difficult to breathe. The drugs that Lisa took for much of her life led to a partial liver transplant in 2007. Her own mom's best friend turned out to be a miracle match. Several years ago, tests showed that Lisa's kidneys were now in decline. The couple knew that a transplant would someday be needed.

In 2019, there was a major breakthrough in the treatment of CF. Lisa was put on a new drug called Trikafta. It was a game changer for Lisa. Her energy level was sky high and her CF was under control. But those darn kidneys. The damage had been done. Lisa is currently at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Her kidneys are functioning at just 10%. She needs a kidney, and it has to be from a living donor.
