Fewer people are reportedly attending college sports events in Iowa, according to the Gazette. The results are based on various factors.

The programs in the state to see the biggest attendance increases are Iowa women's basketball, particularly thanks to the sensational play of one Megan Gustafson from 2014-18. Iowa State football has gained an over 7.3 percent attendance level as Matt Campbell has put the team back on the map and on the rise in the same period.

On the other hand, Iowa men's basketball saw a 20-percent drop.

What's to blame? In short: higher ticket prices for more boring games against cupcakes. That's a problem in particular that we hear about every year for Iowa football's preseason schedule. College football attendance nationwide is also at a 22-year-low so it's not just here, for whatever that's worth. You can probably still count on people flocking to Kinnick for a long time to come because football is king when it comes to revenue.

Watch-at-home options are increasing as well, so more folks are staying put to catch the action.

Do you still enjoy attending games at Kinnick Stadium, Jack Trice Stadium, the UNI-Dome, Carver-Hawkeye Arena, Hilton Coliseum or elsewhere in the state? Or are you fine catching a game in the comfort of home?
