If you've ever experienced the "helpful smile in every aisle", you know how lucky one Eastern Iowa town is about to become.

Employee-owned Hy-Vee has announced plans to build in Decorah. Plans from Winneshiek County say it is going to be a 25,000-square foot store, in what used to be a Quillin's grocery store in Decorah's Centrum Plaza.

Decorah's economy is projected to grow with 70 new jobs. This development has been in the works for twelve months, and will be the city's first Hy-Vee store. The chain currently has 245 locations in the midwest states of Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin, and its headquarters is based in West Des Moines.

The "high value" quality products, services and community partnerships and resources we've all come to know and love, in the store founded by its namesakes Charles Hyde and David Vredenburg, will come to Decorah after renovations start this fall.

Congratulations, Decorah. Your one-stop shop for donuts, groceries, flowers, stamps, Starbucks, fresh-cut meats and more is on its way. Learn more about the project here.
