Chili season is upon us!

Dogs Forever, a Cedar Rapids animal rescue, is gearing up for one of their biggest fundraisers of the year! Their annual Chili Cook-Off is coming up on Saturday, October 15th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Geonetric Building on 12th Ave SE!

There are two different ways that you can participate in this year's event. The first is just by showing up to eat! For a $5 donation, you'll be able to sample up to 15 different kinds of chili and vote on your favorite. In addition to all the chili tasting, there will also be a bake sale and a silent auction.

The other way you can participate is by cooking up some chili of your own! For a $30 entry fee, you can make a pot of chili and test your skills against other Eastern Iowans. There will be a panel of local celebrity judges that determine the grand prize winner, and that winner will receive $400. The People's Choice winner will receive $100. There is one important rule, though... no toppings! There are still plenty of openings for the competition - get signed up HERE.

All proceeds from the Chili Cook-Off will benefit Dogs Forever, a "nonprofit committed to helping find abused, neglected and homeless dogs adoptive homes in Eastern Iowa." We work closely with the organization each week with our Furry Friday segment, and my dog Tater was even featured in their 2022 calendar! To check out all of the adoptable dogs available at Dogs Forever, you can visit their official website HERE.
