Five Girls Arrested For Independence Burglaries
Five girls have been arrested for a pair of burglaries that happened early Monday in Independence.
According to information released by police, officers responded to a burglary alarm at the Music Station. When they arrived around 1:30 AM, authorities discovered the convenience store at 709 1st St. West had been broken into.
While investigating the burglary, authorities were called to a home in the northwest part of town on a report of a possible car burglary and assault. Responding officers learned that five juvenile females ran from the area after being confronted by the home owner.
Independence officials later arrested the five girls in connection with the burglaries. Police Chief David Niedert said charges are pending in the case. Niedert's department is working with juvenile court authorities and the Iowa Department of Human Services.
