Halloween is over. Thanksgiving time is officially here, and it's time to present my annual gratitude list. Here are five things I'm most grateful for:

Chicago Cubs in the 2016 World Series. Win or lose, if you're a fan, you gotta be thankful for the fact that they made it to the World Series in your lifetime. SO breathe easy if they don't bring home the Championship. Remember, it has also been a long road for Cleveland Indian fans too, so go easy on the Tribe's supporters if they capture the crown. In fact, shake their hand and congratulate them! THAT's the American Way!

The Presidential Election is ALMOST over! In just one week, America will have elected it's next Commander in Chief. Again, win or lose, let's all congratulate the winner and just move on. Enough of the name calling, bullying, political backstabbing rhetoric. Save the drama for the TV reality shows. Let's not become one.

Daylight Savings Time change. Every November just before the cold snap, we get back an extra hour when we "fall back" one hour this Sunday at 2:00 a.m. at the end of Daylight Savings Time (DST). So you can spend your extra hour this Sunday on extra chores, more partying (if you haven't had enough yet this past weekend), or indulging my favorite pastime: naps!

Veteran's Day. On November 11 we honor all those who have served our country, past and present. This is America's only holiday that isn't tarnished by over-commercialism or consumerism. Let's do this one right by saluting the members of our military and thanking them for their dedication to the principals our nation was founded on.

Thanksgiving Day. We all know that it's not just the traditional meal, the football games or the unofficial start of the holiday shopping season. There's nothing wrong with any of those things. But Thanksgiving is also the holiday that gives us time to pause and reflect on the meaning of true gratitude. So let's give thanks for our families and loved ones and share some of that appreciation with all our friends and co-workers, along with everyone we encounter this month.
