Free Vaccine Clinic Saturday in Hiawatha

I'm here to tell you that I've completed my COVID-19 vaccination series (Pfizer) and it wasn't that bad. Today I have some tension in my shoulders and pain at the injection site. It could be worse. And it might end up getting worse. But totally worth it. I was way too excited about having my card completed, but I won't follow suit with others posting it online. I didn't get a sticker, which disappointed me a little after seeing other people get one.

I'm not here to tell you what to do, but if you've yet to get your COVID vaccine and would like one, Hawkeye Area Community Action Program (HACAP) and Linn County Public Health {LCPH) are the latest to partner up to help folks who need their shots this weekend.

The HACAP facility will have a free vaccine clinic with 200 doses of the Moderna shot available Saturday, April 24th from 9 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. at 1515 Hawkeye Drive in Hiawatha, according to Iowa's News Now.

It's open to everyone age 18 or older. You will not need to have proof of insurance but with the limited supply available, it's best to make an appointment through HACAP's website HERE. You'll need to return for a second dose on May 22 (at the same appointment time). On the site is also pre-appointment paperwork that can be filled out in advance or on the day of the clinic on site. Keep in mind, only people receiving a vaccine will be allowed inside the facility between 9 and 1:45 on Saturday.

A report came out from KCRG noting that over 2 million Iowans have already been vaccinated. At this writing, just over 25 percent of Iowa's population has been vaccinated.
