Just a couple of weeks ago we told you about the Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival returning with its lead-up to the 4th of July in the City of Five Seasons. The festival will include the popular Balloon Glow, with a new addition. It's also in a new location, with limited capacity. Here's how you can make sure your family can be part of it.

The 2021 Balloon Glow will be held on Tuesday, June 22 at Hawkeye Downs Speedway and will feature more hot air balloons than the event has ever seen before. There will be TEN of them! And before they light up the night sky, Great American Kites will be putting on a very cool display of their own. The video below is from an event in North Liberty last month.

According to a media release from the Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival, "In light of COVID safety guidelines and large-in person event recommendations, there will be a limited capacity. Tickets can be purchased in advance HERE and will be $20 per reservation—good for up to 6 people."

Doors to the event will open at 6 p.m., with Alisabeth Von Presley performing, starting at 8 p.m. After purchasing advance tickets, you're encouraged to bring bag chairs for seating on the Hawkeye Downs racetrack. Soft-sided coolers are fine, but no alcohol may be brought in. Vendors for both food and drinks, including alcohol, will be on-site.

Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival Executive Director Karol Shepherd says,

Just as many of our events this year, Balloon Glow is going to look a little bit differently. For the first time we will have a limited capacity for this event, but will also have on-site parking! Our sponsors have been extremely supportive of these changes, and we are hopeful that the community is understanding as well.

We'll be there for this year's event, so be sure to stop by and say hello!
