A week after announcing she was reopening parts of the remaining 22 Iowa counties, Governor Kim Reynolds eased many more restrictions effective this Friday or in the week ahead.

Governor Reynolds announced that beginning Friday, May 22, movie theatres, zoos, museums, aquariums, and wedding reception venues will be able to open with proper health and social distancing guidelines in place. Swimming pools will be allowed to open for lap swimming and swimming lessons.

Beginning Thursday, May 28, the governor announced that bars and other establishments that serve alcohol will be able to open to indoor or outdoor seating at 50 percent capacity.

On June 1, school-sponsored activities and learning will be opened up. High school baseball and softball activities will be allowed to begin at that time. More information will be released on this by the governor during her press conference on Thursday, May 21.

The governor was also joined by Kayla Lyon, the Director of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. Lyon announced that beginning Friday, May 22, campgrounds, modern restrooms, shower buildings, and cabins at all of Iowa's state parks will open. RV, pop-up, and tent camping will all be open, as will beaches at state parks.

No visitors will be allowed at camping areas. Only those with overnight passes can be at campsites, with a maximum of six people per site. The only exception is if the immediate family includes more than six people.

Youth group campsites, shelters, lodges, playgrounds, other group camps, museums, and visitors centers will all remain closed.
