Communities are seeing more of their residents get vaccinated and the long cooped-up quarantines are coming slowly to an end. Get reacquainted with your neighbors with an event that offers a chance for playtime, to get out of the house, and get some fresh air and exercise, and free food.

A free public event from the Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation Department is coming soon that will feel like a good old-fashioned neighborhood block party with fun and games to test your skills and enjoy an afternoon outside.

Jones Park in Cedar Rapids will host a "field day" on April 24. From 1-4 p.m. at the Jones Park Lagoon Pavilion, 201 Wilson Ave. SW, Parks & Recreation along with their partner, the "Leaders Believers Achievers" Foundation invite you for basketball contests, football skills, and challenges, kickball, art projects, fishing, even a TikTok station.

There will also be scavenger hunts followed by a barbecue with free food provided by Hy-Vee to wrap up the festivities. All in the community are welcome. The mission of Leaders Believers Achievers, according to their Facebook page, is simple: "inspire hope in tomorrow’s Leaders, Believers, and Achievers."
