Hiawatha Police have made an arrest in the April 29 robbery of Quick Mart on Robins Road.

They have arrested 19-year-old Jacob Kimpton who, along with an unidentified accomplice used a shotgun to rob the convenience store last month. Police received information that he was seen in the area at the time of the robbery and idenified him as a suspect.

This, after a Facebook post from the Hiawatha Police Department showed surveilence footage of one person aiming the shotgun while another in a Prairie sweatshirt loaded items into a backpack.

After executing a search warrant on Kimpton's apartment in Northwest Cedar Rapids, they found stolen goods from the store, which is located at 655 Robins Road, as well as clothing worn during the robbery and gun parts they determined were used during the robbery.

A criminal complaint noted Kimpton admitted his involvement in the crime to a witness, who then went to police.

Kimpton was arrested on charges of first-degree robbery.
