The owners of CSPS Hall in the NewBo district, who also run a bar in the area on a very part-time basis for their patrons during shows and events, would like to make the venture a little more public and visible and are seeking someone interested in managing it.

The historic Carlo bar, located next to the theater at CSPS is, according to the Cedar Rapids Gazette, a "1,350-square-foot space with 10 dining tables and a 24-foot bar operated by CSPS staff and volunteers and only serves patrons during performances and events at CSPS Hall."

They'd like to find an operator willing to keep it open longer and to the entire general public, during gallery hours from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays.

The mission of CSPS is to build community by presenting and supporting music and the arts.

Taylor Bergen, the new executive director of CSPS as of four months ago, thinks with the right partner and resources, the Carlo property has the potential to become something bigger, better, and still complement its attachment to CSPS, but needs someone with more knowledge and expertise to take it over from him and his not-for-profit staff.
