Homicide In Des Moines

According to KCCI, "Police have identified the victim in a Saturday afternoon shooting."

The incident happened around 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, August 31st. The victim that was deceased at the residence was identified as John Lee Belcher. The shooting happened at 1930 Francis Avenue.

Police have arrested a suspect in the shooting and his name is Stanley Paul Wofford, a 45-year-old man from Des Moines. Wofford is charged with first-degree murder and being held on a $500,000 bond.

According to the KCCI story, this is the 10th homicide in the Des Moines area in 2019. That numbers seems very high, and let's hope this trend doesn't continue.
