Honeywell International's operations in Cedar Rapids will no longer exist by the end of 2019. The more than 80,000 square foot building in downtown Cedar Rapids is officially up for lease.

The company, which is headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, is closing its Safety and Productivity offices in Cedar Rapids. The lease on the property at 601 3rd Street SE expires at the end of the year. A spokesperson told the Cedar Rapids Gazette that the company is "streamlining its operations." Affected employees with be offered severance and outplacement assistance.

The departure of Honeywell is expected to affect less than a dozen employees in Cedar Rapids. The downtown location provides engineering, sales, and technical support that will be moving to other Honeywell locations. Honeywell has not provided the exact number of employees that will be affected.

The Honeywell building once belonged to Intermec. Honeywell bought out Intermec in September of 2013 in an all-cash deal worth $600 million.
