Seasonal depression affects us all in one way or another. Have you ever noticed that when it gets dark at 5 p.m. you feel lethargic and ready for bed? Or when its grey and bleek outside, you don't feel like getting out and doing anything? That's all seasonal depression. It can be a challenging time to get motivated or even happy. Luckily for you, there are some natural ways to beat seasonal depression and to even enjoy these grey Iowa winters.

1). Puck Lighting- Soft lights that you can put on/underneath shelves, dressers, cabinets and other structures to give your home a warmer feel. They give the illusion that its still light outside, to beat those winter blues.

2). Omega 3's- Your body's natural way of fighting anxiety and depression is with Omega 3's. Regularly eating salmon and other types of fish can get you plenty of these. Or if you're like me and hate fish, a supplement in pill form works just as well.

3). Regular exercise- You don't have to slam weights or train for a 5k everytime you go to the gym. Rather, taking 15-20 minutes to do light stretching or cardio helps boost your endorphins sky high.

With these little tips and tricks, we can easily get through the next three months of bleh. Spring will be here before you know it.
