Last week IHOP (International House of Pancakes) revealed they were going to change their name today. They officially have. Kinda, sorta. I'll do my best to explain, but it won't be easy.

First, the teaser from a week ago today.

That led to mass speculation. The "b" would stand for breakfast or bacon, right? Wrong. It stands for burgers! What?!

So IHOP is going to become IHOb? Possibly only one location... the very first one in Los Angeles, California. The signage on that location was already changed to IHOb this morning. The rest will likely remain IHOP, because IHOb is only being used for a marketing campaign for the fact that they'll now sell burgers. However, the restaurant's president said more could have their signage changed. I told you this was confusing!

IHOP (or is it IHOb) President Darren Rebelez told CNN:

We are definitely going to be IHOP. But we want to convey that we are taking our burgers as seriously as our pancakes.

Hopefully, you gleaned from that quote the fact that IHOP (or IHOb) IS still going to have pancakes. But they now have burgers. I have so many questions, but the biggest one is will America take the change seriously? I'll be watching the parking lot of the locations on Edgewood Road in Cedar Rapids and James Street in Coralville. Ultimately, that will tell us if this worked.
