Iowa City has suspended bus fares amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Iowa City officials made the decision earlier this morning. Riders of the buses are asked now to enter the bus through the back door to promote social distancing. Riders with mobility devices or have trouble with mobility in general will still be allowed to enter the buses through the front door, to which they simply must knock on the door of the front entrance.

It would go without question that any sort of public transportation is viewed as questionable, so city officials are cautioning patrons to limit the bus trips and only use them for "essential trips only". KCRG has the full story here.
